About MELT

Exploring the future work environment
In the context of the ever changing work environment we want to answer the questions: How do work and work contexts look like in the future? What kind of furniture supports working? And how can Vitra profit from this? Based on Vitra’s corporate values and beliefs we will set up a brand strategy that frames the problem solving process for this project. In an extensive design research we will gather insights in the context of working environments. Therefore we can apply methods like context mapping, interviews, diaries and anthropology. With these insights we will develop a concept. The concept will be based on an engaging user experience, a rich expression and usability. With creative sessions using methods like brainstorming, future perfect or associative techniques we can significantly broaden the solution space to obtain innovative solutions.

We are six master students of the Industrial Design Engineering faculty at the Delft University
of Technology in the Netherlands. With four different nationalities and different backgrounds
two of us are respectively studying in one of the three master programmes Design for Interaction
(DfI), Integrated Product Design (IPD) and Strategic Product Design (SPD). At the beginning
of the proposed project we will start our second and last jear.
With our specialisations we can cover the entire product design process from branding and research
over ergonomics and concept design to product embodiment, marketing and prototyping.
We further have work experience in furniture design, product development, product design and
media design.
